Caldwell, NJ were settled in the early 18th century by pioneers who moved westward from Newark or through the Passaic Valley from the “Dutch” areas of Bergen County. While it was thought that the way had been cleared by Newark’s 1702 purchase of this Horse Neck Tract from the Lenape Indians, clear land titles were clouded by the counterclaims of the Proprietors.

Caldwell Street Fair – The Rotary/Kiwanis Street Fair in Caldwell, NJ is held on The First Sunday in October from 12:00 noon to 5 PM. A six-block area on Bloomfield Avenue in the center of town will be blocked off with provisions for adequate parking in the area. In the event of rain, the fair will be canceled between 8 and 11AM.
